Home Time

The holiday is over and we headed home this morning, stopping off in Bath for a family lunch.

Grand Western Canal

We went for a bike ride along the canal towpath today, only about 6 miles in all, followed by tea and cake.

We had a last night meal in the evening and Harrison was given a pink high chair.

It was raining this morning so we stayed in playing games until it cleared and then visited Cockington Court near Torquay.

There wasn’t a vast amount to do but there were some lovely handmade craft shops. It also had a play area where Lauren could let her hair down and Harrison had his first swing.

We took Harrison for his first day at the beach in Dawlish.

Arriving in time for lunch we ate at a very good little cafe and then headed for the beach. Lauren went straight in and quickly made a new friend. Bex took Harrison for a paddle in the shallows which he loved. I then went in with Lauren, it was chilly at first but we soon got used to it. We could have stayed for ages but it was too hot for Harrison.

It’s now chucking it down so hopefully it will be a little less muggy tomorrow.

We visited Wellington and bought some lovely local cheese and some handmade chocolates for Lauren. After lunch Martyn, Lauren and I had a stroll through Dulverton and then went to Tarr Steps, a very picturesque river crossing with an ancient bridge and a ford that I last visited 27 years ago on a school hiking trip. It’s a bit smaller than I remember and still a lot of fun.
